![]() Emerging as a darling of Milwaukee's independent music culture, Longacre is a mere two year's old. The band developed with regular practices, song writing sessions and a few well chosen opening act spots in Milwaukee and Chicago culminating to a catalog of more than two dozen original songs and a debut cd released in the fall of 2007. Claire Chin – Vocals & Keyboards Raised in Nebraska by an artist father and musician mother, her upbringing was a cultural blend of cattle ranching, French and Chinese influences, classical arts, and literature. Her songs are slivers of emotional spaces, questions and angles of meaning in the world. Michael De Boer – Guitar & Lap Steel A Chicago native, Michael has been playing guitar since he was nine years old. By the time he was 14 he was teaching as many as 50 guitar lessons a week and in college he had the good fortune of meeting and working with many of his idols such as Muddy Waters, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Tom Waits and Leo Kottke. Damian Strigens – Drums, Percussion & Guitar A true multi-instrumentalist and accomplished songwriter, Damian is a master of bass, guitar and with Longacre, the drums. He has an extensive background touring nationally and recording with numerous bands. In addition to Longacre he is a member of Milwaukee based bands Testa Rosa and Knit Delicate, both of whom just released their own great records. Ken Hanson – Bass A well-known and respected Milwaukee based designer and photographer, Ken lays down a solid foundation for Longacre. Playing an assortment of vintage instruments and amps, Ken is known for resonant woody tones and the clean simplicity of his bass lines. Other players in the Longacre collective... Drawing from a collective of talented local musicians, the cd was recorded over about 9 months at Butch Vig’s legendary Smart Studios in Madison, WI. Working the knobs and playing a strong part in the production of the album was wunderkind, Beau Sorenson.
The cd was mastered by Trevor Saddler of Mastermind Productions in Milwaukee, WI and released in September 2007. The band is grateful for the work of these renowned photographers: Larry Schwarm, cover photo and Jim Herrington, band portrait For those who like to read lyrics, here they are. |
